Findings that need no model, each measured the same way on every result and stated with what it leaves out.

Weighing in under the limit

For every man who weighed in within 1 kg over a limit, 11.7 men weighed in within 1 kg under one (95% interval 11.4–12.0).

For every woman who weighed in within 1 kg over a limit, 8.1 women weighed in within 1 kg under one (95% interval 7.8–8.3).

By year, with 95% intervals:

525,054 results from 2015 on, each in an IPF class for its date and measured against the nearer limit of that class: the one above it (making weight) or the one below it. Classes are at least 4 kg wide, so within 1 kg the limit is never in doubt. A smooth spread of bodyweights would put about as many results just over a limit as just under one, a ratio near 1. Intervals resample lifters rather than results, because the same lifters make weight meet after meet. Women’s 69 and 76 kg classes apply from 2021. 920 results with a bodyweight outside their own class are left out as data errors. This describes where lifters weigh in, not what cutting costs or gains them.
